You need to be very relaxed when you try to have a Lucid Dream.

Relaxation require a great deal of practice, patience, and willpower, so learning to control your thoughts and your body really helps.

Meditation and Relaxation techniques

Relaxing starts with removing and distractions and obstacles from your mind.

This is the first part of relaxing. Make sure your bed is comfortable, the right temperature, there's circulation of air in the room, like a door open and a window open, and make sure as much light as possible is blocked from coming in.

Have all electric devices off and that includes having your phone on silent. You can also try using aromatherapy like pillow spray or incense sticks to make it even more relaxing.

Listen to yourself breathing, and breath deeply for about 20 minutes, and focus your thoughts on 'nothing,' try not to think about anything. You might see colors and shapes, this is normal; it's called Hypnagogic Imagery, sometimes known as 'guided imagery' and this is the brain showing brief scenes and patterns.

Meditation for lucid dreaming is about creating the right environment, controlling your thoughts, breathing, and focusing. Here's a few other things you can do to help you get relaxed.

1. It's important to control your breathing and focus your energy.

2. Keep a regular sleep pattern.

3. Listen to Binaural beats to entrain your brainwaves to focus and relax. They are basically brain music that can guide your brainwaves into certain states.
